If you like to go Jeju Island by your own just like what my friends and I did, you can do so by taking domestic flights from Seoul to Jeju Island. There are other alternatives way by either taking train or ferry but mostly not recommended for doing so. You will be surprised that taking round-trip flight would be much more cheaper than taking train or ferry.
Basically, there is vast majority of domestic flights from Seoul to Jeju Island which you can choose from but you may encounter problem in some of the online booking especially in language barrier and some only accept Korean Credit Card for online payment. Therefore, it will be an advantages for those who know Korean language or have any Korean friends. But afraid not, cause even myself managed to get through all these hassle and booked myself without knowing any Korean language or getting help from my Korean friends.
Jeju Island - you must go at least once.
Here is the list of airlines flying out from Seoul city to Jeju Island:
1. Korean Air - http://www.koreanair.com/
There are like more than 20 flights fly in and out from Seoul city to Jeju Island everyday and you might able find your own preferred and suitable departure time. Website is available in English language too. However, the airfare is quite pricey and not suitable for those who are on shoe-string budget.
2. Asiana Airlines - http://flyasiana.com/gateway/gateway_en.html
Website is available in English language. However, just like Korean Air, the airfare also could be pricey. Mainly because both of them are considering the largest airlines in South Korea and comes with all frills.
Like I did mentioned above, you still can travel to Jeju Island with a cheap and affordable thrill by considering the smaller and low-cost airlines. Just like AirAsia, although these airlines listed below come with no frills but sometimes they offer an absolute great deals where you might manage to purchase return ticket for less than RM200 (including taxes), especially if you search for a few months in advanced and have a sufficient research.
3. Jeju Air - http://www.jejuair.net/
Offers a very cheap airfare but no English language available on the website.
4. T'Way Air - http://www.twayair.com/
Just like Jeju Air too, you might need someone who know Korean language to assist you in booking the ticket.
5. Jin Air - http://www.jinair.com/
This subsidiary of Korean Air also doesn't comes with English language in its official website too.
6. Eastar Jet - http://www.eastarjet.com/book/index.htm
Thanks to Tommy Ooi (a luxe traveller I met through online) for recommended this airline to me and yes, I managed to buy my flight for approximately RM100 per pax. Got no problem with the online booking as English language is available and it accepts international credit card too. If you book in advanced, you might get as low as 19,900 won (approx. RM60).
7. Air Busan -http://en.airbusan.com/
A subsidiary of Asiana Airlines, you may try to book air ticket to Jeju Island from this airline as well. Just like Eastar Jet, no worries of the language barrier and also the credit card payment. You can also choose your own preferred seat for free. Depart either from Seoul - Gimpo International Airport or Busan - Gimhae International Airport.
Tips:
So, my upcoming post will share about "Island of the Gods", the Jeju Island since I almost done with my trip around Seoul city. Hope this post is helpful for those who want to plan a trip to Jeju Island from Seoul.

- Flight to Jeju Island from Seoul city is depart from Gimpo International Airport, not Incheon International Airport. So, remember to inform your taxi driver which airport are you heading to if you want to fly to Jeju Island.

I love this post. Such a great review.
ReplyDeleteGreat sharing! Honestly, once is enough for me. There's nothing much in Cheju :<
ReplyDeleteyou have no idea just how useful this entry is for those budget travellers like me...
ReplyDeleteI don't know why but the thought of going to Korea just never occur to me :s
ReplyDeletethanks for all the wonderful tips..
ReplyDeleteHi, could you help me?
ReplyDeletei wonder why all airlines you mentioned above offer 9 seats only for online reservation (except easter jet)?
You mean the maximum number of seats book through online reservation? I think there's their policy cause even airlines like AirAsia and Royal Brunei also only allow to book up to 9 seats per booking only.
DeleteThanks so the great information. I tried to book flight to Jeju using eastar but they refuse to accept my id. How can this problem be solved? I keyed in my passport no. I am a Singaporean.
ReplyDeleteZan
wow, you've got a cheap ticket! I also book my flight (Eastar Jet) since 6 months ago, but totally for return ticket I've got 97000 KRW per pax..
ReplyDeleteHi, Moonlite! That's was cheap indeed. Some of the airlines they did offered as low as 19,900 KRW per pax for one ticket but it depends on what time you prefer. I prefer morning flight hence it might be slightly higher compare to evening flight.
DeleteHi! I would like to ask how many are you altogether when you went to Jeju via Eastar Jet? My friends and I are planning a trip to Jeju and I saw your posts regarding your trip. We are wondering if you booked your tickets as a group or individually because when we tried booking as a group, the rate of 19,900 KRW doesn't appear anymore unlike when we do it individually. We are 6 in the group by the way. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Krys!
DeleteI think perhaps the rate of 19,900 KRW is for limited seat. Just like AirAsia, maybe for one-two person, you might get 19,900 KRW but if more than that, perhaps you can't get that rate.
Hi Diana,
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed reading your posts about your trip to Korea so far. Therefore, I was wondering how much did you spent for your ticket flight from KL-Seoul
I'm glad that you enjoy reading my Korea travelogue. Regarding my flight ticket KL-Seoul-KL, I bought RM467. You can check my blogpost of the total damages for this trip. http://dianateo-dt.blogspot.com/2012/10/travel-expenses-of-seoul-jeju-island.html
DeleteHi
ReplyDeletechanced upon your blog while doing research for jeju and seoul. great info ^^
just want to check, payment for easter jet ticket is done via credit card. however, it is in KRW. will i be able to make the payment in SGD?
Thank you.
Hi Alicia,
DeleteI think the payment is applicable in KRW only.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteUr informations were really good to me. Thank you so much for sharing. However, can i ask do you encounter any problems at the eastar jet check in counter? Cos im going to buy tickets thro some singapore agents web and im scare of like some others said they don take singapore passport no this all. Thank you.
Hi Betty,
ReplyDeleteSo far, I didn't encounter any problems when I proceeded the check-in in Eastar Jet counter. I think it's accept any nationalities as long as you have the valid passport and do web check-in earlier.
Hihi,
DeleteOh, so you did ur check in thru the web. I get it. Thank you so much for ur reply and sharing.
Hi, Diana, will be traveling to seoul coming sept with three other friends. contemplating to go jeju, how do I book the air ticket to there, online? or can I book on spot when I reach seoul. I still has about 3 months to prepare. hope u can advise me. tks
ReplyDeleteHi Sally,
DeleteRegarding the airticket to Jeju, I will recommend to book via online to secure more available seats and sometimes it will be more cheaper rather than buying on the spot.
Hi Diana , I will be traveling to Seoul on April 15 . I wondering how much of time ahead of the air tic should I get to jeju from Gimpo. Arrival time at Incheun is 3:20 . Thank you so much .
ReplyDeleteHi Sharry,
DeleteI would suggest you spare at least 4 hours and more cause both Incheon Airport and Gimpo are distance away. You can take train from Incheon to Gimpo but be prepared with all the unpredictable circumstances such as waiting for your luggage bags, immigration checking and etc.
