If you ask me are there many things to do and see in Madrid, I have to be honest with you - My answer would be "No!". But what's the reason behind I stay in Madrid for 4 nights? It's because I want take this opportunity to visit those nearby cities without the need of frequently hop on and hop off along with my heavy and bulky luggage together.
There are few stunning and amazing cities you can do a day trip from Madrid; cities like Toledo, Segovia, Seville, Avila, El Escorial and more which are perfect getaway to escape from this hustling and bustling capital city of Spain. But because we're pressed for time, we can only pick and visit 1-2 cities only. And so, I began with Segovia first. Oh well, it was actually last minute decision to proceed with this plan after discussed with both of my mom and cousin on the night before we depart to Segovia. Luckily nowadays all the tickets can be purchased through online without the need to get to the train station. I purchased my train tickets online from Trainline.
MADRID'S TRAIN STATIONS
Eventually Madrid has two different train stations; Atocha and Chamartin and both have excellent metro and Cercanis commuter train connections. Madrid Atocha is the largest railway station in the city and served trains from Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Saragosse and southern Spain. As for Chamartin, it served those trains from most northbound and international trains.
HOW TO GET TO SEGOVIA FROM MADRID
The place we stayed are very close to Atocha Train Station, but not Chamartin. And since the train to Segovia departs from Chamartin Train Station, we have to take metro to there. A single trip with metro costs between €1.50 to €2.00, depending on the stations. And from Chamartin Train Station, we took a ride on high-speed train which took approximately less than half an hour to arrive in Segovia. There is at least one departure from Madrid's Chamartin train station every hour throughout the day, seven days a week.
#1: Madrid's metro cards, Madrid Chamartin Station and Renfe high-speed train.
So finally we reach Segovia Guiomar which is Segovia main train station, what's next? Once we got out from the train station, immediately we hop on the bus #11. By looking at the bus timetable, I noticed that the bus is not so frequent, so try not to waste your time wandering around the train station and quickly jump into the bus if possible. Plus Segovia Guiomar is situated quite far away from Segovia city center, so if you miss the bus, then you might need to get the taxi which maybe would be costly. One-way bus ride costs €2.00.

SIGHTSEEING IN SEGOVIA
The highlight of a day trip to Segovia is to marvel and admire at the Aqueduct of Segovia. Therefore, this is where we get off from the bus, the last stop. The Aqueduct of Segovia was built by the Romans, features two tiers of arches and a whopping 167 arches. It's an awe-inspiring featuring of historic construction that has stood the test of time.
#5: Aqueduct of Segovia
The walled Old Town itself is relatively small and easily accessible on foot. To begin with our exploration in Segovia, we slowly walk up from the Azogueojo Square. The aqueduct reaches its highest point of 28m in the middle of the square.
#6: Let's begin our walk, shall we?
#7: There are plenty of restaurants and shops in Segovia you can dropby
#8: The other side of Segovia
#9: My queen & I - Blessed for the perfect and fine weather
#10: In the middle of the main square, standing a large and impressive yellow-painted of Gothic-style Roman Catholic cathedral
#11: One shot please in front of Segovia Cathedral
#12: Segovia - a UNESCO World Heritage Site
#13: Capitoline Wolf Statue in Segovia
#14: Can't leave a city without sending the postcards
We left this beautiful city around 6pm after spending here for almost 8 hours. If you ask me whether do I make a wise choice of coming to Segovia instead of other nearby cities to Madrid, I would definitely say "No Regret" at all. And if you are someone who love to add more UNESCO list, then you should consider Segovia.
