Pullman Miri Waterfront

During our road trip to Brunei and Miri, we chosen to book and stay at Pullman Miri Waterfront. This hotel is the one and only 5-star international chain hotel sits conveniently in the vibrant heart of Miri. Instead of just 1-night, we decided to stay for 2 nights after the long-hour drive on the road. In addition, both my husband and I have tons of relatives and friends to visit in Miri. Therefore, 2 nights in Miri is just perfect for us.

#1: Reception

DELUXE KING ROOM WITH SEA VIEW
We booked the deluxe king room overlooks the the panoramic views of Baong River in Miri. Decorated in white and grey furnishings with dark wood theme, our room is fitted with flat screen television, mini fridge, air-conditioning, private bathroom with bath and shower facilities, working desk, seating area and ironing facilities. Talking about the size, we didn't expect the room to be generously spacious and huge in size.

Hotel Review: Meritz Hotel, Miri

Early of last year, my Boyfie and I decided to do long road trip all the way from Kota Kinabalu to Brunei and Miri. The last time I on this road trip was back in 2012 with my family for my cousin's wedding (My Old Post: 7 Hours From Kota Kinabalu to Brunei). Both Boyfie and I have been through this long and winding road trip quite number of times, just that we're not the who drove all these while. So surprisingly when I told Boyfie about my plan to do road trip across states and international borders, he agreed instantly to be the one who handling the steering wheel - guess, he doesn't trust my driving skills.

As this road trip takes almost 20 hours to go and back, the choice is either overnight in Brunei or Miri. However taking into consideration that a Brunei Dollar is almost equivalent to RM3, hence I opted to stay in Miri for a night. Thanks to my BFF who is living in Miri, she recommended me to stay in this hotel, Meritz Hotel.

Meritz Hotel Miri 07
#1: Meritz Hotel of Miri

Meritz Hotel is the latest four-star business hotel smacked right in the center of Miri city center. The two main reasons why I chosen this hotel are because first, it adjacent to shopping mall, the Bintang Megamall - that's pretty cool! Secondly, complimentary parking space provided as we're driving our car. I rarely take into account for parking space but this time, I have to.

In Miri To Meet My BFF

Seldom came cross where I blog about visiting around Malaysia? This is because I has visited most of the cities around Malaysia when I was in high school. At that moment, blog is still undiscovered by me yet. Well, thanks to opportunity given by the Girl Guides Association Malaysia Sabah and not forgetting to my dad too, who loves to have road trip at that moment for me to explore more cities around Malaysia. Only two states which I haven't visit yet which are Kelantan and Pahang. Hopefully I can go Kelantan in coming years to visit my BFF there.

Talking about Miri, I purposely added into part of my trip when visiting my relatives in Kuching back in 2008 just to visit the people I met during my college life. It's cool and awesome to meet lots of friends who came from different places/cities/states and without realising as the times passes, slowly some of us getting closer and has become best friends. Not only that, somehow there's culture embedded within us where "You visit my hometown, I visit your hometown" those kind culture. Quite funny right - when we were young, bold and free at our younger period?

Visiting Miri this time around is much different compare to my previous visit because I became a truly tourist and got to see more places around Miri, thanks to the courtesy of my best friend and her family.

Miri 01
One of Miri's landmark that my best friend brought me to was The Grand Old Lady. Miri is known as birthplace of Malaysia's petroleum industry and this Grand Old Lady is the first oil well in Malaysia. However, this oil well is no longer production and it has been declared by the Sarawak Government as a protected historical monument.

Next to this oil well is the Petroleum Science Museum - traces the history and technological development of the oil & gas industries in Malaysia.

Thereafter, we wandered around Miri City. Even I has visited Miri few times, never thought there are so many place yet to discovered by me.

Miri 05
Take for example, Luak Esplanade - a long stretch of beach where you can enjoy the blue ocean scenery and smell the ocean breeze. Just like the Tanjung Aru.
