Foodie Friday: Equatorial Restaurant, Tanjung Aru Plaza

NOTE: Non-Halal Food Post

I seldom have my meals at this fine dining Chinese cuisine restaurant cause most of the meals ordered are too heavy and I was on a diet plan. But because both of my uncle and aunty and also including my cousin came from Brunei, so I have no other choices but to join them.

Most of people especially KKians recommended this restaurant if you are looking for nice and delicious Chinese foods serving in KK town. So when everytime if there any relatives or my dad's friends came by KK for visit, this is one of the place that my dad won't hesitate to bring them for dinner.

Since there are 8 of us, my dad has ordered 7 different dishes including their signature dishes.

Equatorial Restaurant 01
Fried Mango Roll (RM13.00)
Basically it is fried crab meat together with mango. My first attempt to try this special dish but surprisingly it taste good, crunchy and delicious.

Equatorial Restaurant 02
Yong Chow Fried Rice (RM12.00)
It's my family favourite fried rice and my dad sure will order it when everytime visit this restaurant.

Equatorial Restaurant 03
Sweet and sour chicken with marinated jellyfish (RM33.00)
Love the combination of the sauce together with the chicken but I dislike eating the jellyfish.

Equatorial Restaurant 04
Scallop with mix veggie (RM100.00)

Equatorial Restaurant 05
Beancurd with oyster sauce

One of their signature dishes - Crispy Pork Leg (RM40.00)
This is highly recommended by their chef and I can see that almost all table ordered this.

Equatorial Restaurant 07
Fried Big Prawn (RM105.00)

You may think Equatorial may seems to serve ordinary Chinese dishes but they do serve a real great fresh and big prawn.

Besides the above dishes that my dad ordered, Equaotorial is popular for cooking crocodile meat. Frankly speaking, none of my family have the guts to try this unusual meat and we worry we might not use to the taste of the crocodile meat. But you can check out MeiTzeu's blog where she and family did tried that - Equatorial Restaurant(贵都海鲜楼), Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

Overall, this is one and recommended Chinese cuisine restaurant if you are looking for in KK town with a friendly service too. Even their food serving time consider to be quite fast and efficient.

  4. Yummy! I like all the dishes especially the prawns. However, the rice seemed very wet. I like fried rice a lot but very particular; every grain needs to be evenly coated & separated. I'm a fussy eater....
